Managing additional parameters (blog) - plugin for the "Blog" application

Description of the plugins „Managing additional parameters (blog)”.

Plugin enables creating additional custom fields in the "Blog" app for posts and pages using already built-in advanced options.

The functions of plugins allow adding arbitrary files and images to pages. You can create additional descriptions, informational blocks with text content or HTML code, and add any kind of necessary additional information through various field types and custom output in design modules.

1. INPUT - Simple text field
2. TEXTAREA - Multi-line text field
3. HTML - Field with visual HTML editor
4. SELECT - Dropdown field with multiple values
5. IMAGE - Field for uploading images
6. FILE - Field for uploading any files

What common problems does this plugin solve?

• Additional (second) page description.
• Using different modules for page layouts.
• Displaying and hiding specific pages in any menu, for example, in the website's main menu.
• Forcing a specific H1 header different from the main page title.
• Creating a "Important" block with text or HTML code, usually placed in a separate column of the design.
• Ability to add various files to a page: instructions, schematics, software, drivers, warranties, certificates, etc.
• Creating attractive menus with images and short descriptions of items.
• Setting an image (icon, logo) for a page.

The application areas of plugins are very broad! Arbitrary fields, arbitrary values, and output in any location you want!

How module works.

In the settings of plugins, fields are created. These fields are displayed in the page editing interface for filling in. All configured field values will be available in modules as additional parameter values.

Note: Installing plugins will not affect any previously installed options. When changing the field type to SELECT, all found values will be imported as selection options.

Displaying parameters on the website.

Configured field values are accessible by key in variables - $page.key}

Where key is the key of the additional parameter.

To correctly display parameters in design modules, it is necessary to add a condition checking the existence of a set value using:

File output:

Important: For file-type fields, values will store a link to the file.

To output an image (field IMAGE), wrap the parameter value in the <img>/p>

Behavior features:

All values are saved independently of configured parameters, so you can disable and re-enable output of certain parameters to the store without deleting actual values.

When changing a field type to SELECT (selection field), all found active values will be imported as selection options.

When changing a field type from IMAGE (image upload field) or FILE (file upload field) to any other field type, all set values and files remain intact. Furthermore, when the value is changed to non-file links, files are removed, thus preserving data during type changes.

When uninstalling plugins, all installed advanced options and uploaded files remain untouched. Only data related to the operation of plugins are removed.
