When and how to use the plugins "SEO Meta Robots"?
- If you are starting a new project:
- Purchase the plugin and configure the "robots" meta tags, following standard instructions
- At the same time, configure the "robots.txt" file, following standard recommendations
- If you already have a large number of indexed product pages and/or pagination pages and/or junk pages (GET pages) and need to get rid of them, assigning weight to the relevant site pages:
- Purchase the plugin and set the "robots" meta tags on the appropriate site pages.
- Configure the "Link Canonical" tag using the plugins "SEO Link Canonical".
- Wait for search engines to reindex previously indexed pages, and only then block indexing of junk pages and article pages using the "robots.txt" file to avoid wasting the site's indexing budget in the future. But be careful! Do not block pagination pages using the "robots.txt" file!
- If you already have an online store with hidden categories and/or hidden products that you want to prevent from being indexed, which need to be excluded from indexing:
- Purchase the plugin and configure the "robots" meta tags on the appropriate pages of your site.
- Done! It is not necessary to block hidden product pages in the "robots.txt" file. If possible, it is recommended that after reindexing, hidden category pages are not blocked in the robots.txt file, but this is not mandatory.
- If you already have an online store, but the catalog contains a large number of "broken" items with the status "Published on site" that have a negative impact on behavior and/or commercial factors when changing the page (e.g. products without prices, without images, without descriptions, etc.):
- Set the "broken" products to the status "hidden on site".
- Purchase the plugin and set the "robots" meta tags for the hidden products
- Configure the "Link Canonical" tag using the plugins "SEO Link Canonical".
- Done! There is no need to block hidden product pages in the "robots.txt" file.
