Plugin "Compression of original product images + WEBP" was created to save server disk space, as well as to reduce the size of site pages and increase its performance.

Main capabilities of plugins:

• Compression of original product images by reducing their resolution (to the value specified in the settings)
• Ability to enable conversion of original product photos to WEBP format (which additionally saves disk space)
• Thanks to the conversion of original images to WEBP format, photo thumbnails will also be in this modern format. This will increase site performance by reducing the weight of photos, which in turn will reduce the overall page size.

Plugin is especially useful for projects with a large number of products and photos.
It often happens that managers upload product photos in huge resolution, which in most cases does not make much sense. In such a situation, photos of just a few products can take up 1 GB, and the total "weight" of the folder with original photos exceeds tens or even hundreds of gigabytes.
A similar situation often occurs when uploading product photos via supplier API.

Plugin works automatically in the background - just fill in the settings once and configure CRON.
