At this moment, plugin works well both in the cloud and on third-party hosting and VDS/VPS. No graphic files are modified when it runs; everything stays in its place. You can always delete all thumbnails created by the plugin by pressing the appropriate button if you wish.

Almost four out of five mobile device users use a browser capable of displaying webp images. But most sites still deliver jpeg images, which are usually twice as large for the same quality. This plugin was created to solve this problem, allowing store administrators to configure the "shop" application with little effort to automatically create product and other images in webp format for browsers that support it, while still providing normal jpeg and png for other browsers.

Plugin modifies the HTML code of the page, replacing image URLs with a webp thumbnail for those browsers that support this format. The thumbnail will be generated automatically on the fly when requested, using the same mechanism as in the "Shop" application. It works both with product images and others: icons, logos, banners.

Advantages:

• Faster image loading for browsers supporting webp. Converted images are typically half the size of the original jpeg, while maintaining the same quality. It is worth realizing that in most cases it is images that are responsible for overall page delay; visitors will notice the difference.
• Higher positions in Google search; using modern formats for images is part of PageSpeed and Lighthouse requirements and is taken into account during indexing.
• Less traffic, very noticeable if the client has a slow or expensive internet connection, for example.
  Currently, about 90% of mobile and desktop clients already support webp: https://caniuse.com/#feat=webp. Firefox, Edge, and Safari have now also joined in support.
